Norah George Yarns is owned and run by me, Tracy. I work from home and hand dye, pack and love each skein of yarn myself.
I have been dyeing yarn for almost two years, and Norah George Yarns new from my love of fibre-related crafts and the NEED to experiment with anything connected to them! I adore knitting, and pick up my needles everyday without fail. I have also recently taken up weaving and spinning which I love and I really enjoy the challenge and the immersion of learning a new craft.
I take inspiration from popular culture as well as recent events, the season, holidays….anything that surrounds me. I especially love creating custom colour ways for people – as my first skein of yarn was dyed because I wanted something particular that I couldn’t seem to find anywhere else.
The name Norah George is inspired by my Grandparents, Norah and George, who I sadly never got to meet. They were a typical old-fashioned couple and from what my Mum has told me, they would have been very proud of what I am doing with my yarn business!
I also have a podcast which can be found on YouTube under the name “Crafts from the Third Floor” which is where my magical craft room lives.
I live in rural Leicestershire with my husband Ben and our two children Finley and Pippa. We are lucky enough to have my parents live right next door.
